Music is very important element in our lives starting from when we were in our mother’s womb. We know that music can help forge new social relationships. It’s been found that babies that move to a beat with an adult, while playing are more willing to lend a helping hand later on.
The little ones will start off by smiling, swaying and possibly clapping their hands but once they start walking on their own, they will have enough control over their body to do some spinning, bobbing up and down, and eventually dancing. Between 17 and 18 months, the children may start trying to move side to side and turning in circles and using their arms, which can help them improve their balancing skills.
Even before they are able to move around and dance, just simply listening to music helps toddlers think and express themselves more creatively as they are growing up. Dancing will improve the toddler’s body coordination and develop spatial awareness. It is also found that dancing with music can make your child happier. Depending on how old your child is, there are different songs that can benefit your child: songs with more body movements help with gross motor skills, songs where you ask others to provide a fill in the blank helps social skills and repetitive songs can help your child realize and anticipate patterns in the songs.
